From the article (pg 50, Florida Design, March 2010):

2010 has been a busy year for Jason Phillips. At only 26, he has gained international recognition in the furniture industry. In the first two months of this year alone, he has been published in over a dozen design and lifestyle magazines as well as over 150 blogs. It seems people are not only amazed at his fresh, contemporary designs, but with the speed with which he is moving. “I am Vice President and Creative Director at our family’s furniture company, The Phillips Collection, as well as running my own brand, Jason Phillips Design. The former takes up most of my time but I have commitments through Jason Phillips Design to travel to design centers around the country and speak on panels regarding interior design, as well as numerous awards I’ve won in ’09 and early this year where I have to participate to varying extents. It is hard work and if I took the time to stop and consider things, I might not be able to get my engine back in gear!”

Noteworthy new designs include the spaghetti-like Continuum Table, which was inspired by models of the space-time-continuum where folds in space and time are created through invisible networks. Al Dente is a decidedly different take on fluidity; relying on rigid rods that explore a more fractal sense of space and density. These concepts are in production and will be introduced later this year.

Most recently, Jason was awarded the inaugural INSPIREDESIGN Design Excellence Award. The previous month he was honored at the 21st Annual ARTS Awards as 2010 Product Designer of the Year, the youngest ever recipient of this prestigious award. In late 2009 he won the VERANDA magazine’s inaugural ‘The Art of Design’ Award for his body of work in the ‘Trade Secrets’ category, which has led to a whirlwind of media attention.

“I take all of this success with a lot of humility,” Jason remarks. “I’m still Jason. Still just a 26 year old with the same interests as others my age…I just happen to be extremely motivated and have been fortunate in my life to be able to extrapolate on the things that matter to me.”
